Is is bad for a 6 year old to still be wearing pull-ups??????
Dusty and I argued about this tonight. I don't think she is ready to be done wearing them because she is still peeing in them at night. He says that we should just let her pee the bed and sleep in it and then she will learn. But I refuse to wash bedding every day and think that is stupid. Dusty says that I am not in a "teaching mood", which by the way, is very offensive seeing as that is my job as a mother. Tell me, how do you teach a child NOT to pee at night???
Oh, and this is all coming from the man who still pee'd the bed until fairly late as a child.
Do I sound frustrated???
Yup. I am!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have one that was a late bloomer in that department too. It's a hard thing. A couple of things I found useful- 1st-the desire. (I'm sure she has this) 2nd-drinking lots of water in the morning and afternoon and then cutting back a lot in the evening. 3rd frequent pre-bedtime potty trips (2-3). These helped. Time was another big thing. It'll happen. :)
Oh-one more thing. An older friend of mine adviced me to possibly replace her mattress, particularly if it was an old one (which it was). Something a chiropractor suggested when her daughter had similar issues.
Whatever you decide to do-hang in there. It's rough, but it'll happen. Good luck!!
BTW-we did replace her mattress and it did seem to help. I can't remember the exact reasons why the chiro suggested it, but it did work. (not 100%, but there was noticable improvement)
I never heard about the mattress trick. Might actually have merit seeing as my 8yo son doesn't pee his pants when he sleeps on the floor but does when he's in bed.
Hmmm.
Follow Angie's advice. Don't belittle her. She'll get there.
And bedwetting is genetic. So blame Dusty.
